There are no rules in roleplaying, there are good ideas, bad ideas and experiments and sometimes you just have to try something. This was pretty amazing, as far as the explanation went, my only wonder is whether it would have been a better idea to not let Eclipse know what the heck was going on, sure he might be a bit miffed, but in the end that wtf moment should be shared by everyone, but it really depends on the player. Are they trusting? Easy going? Can they handle their character being touched?

As a DM it is always a good idea to gauge your characters, what they want in a game, what they can handle as a player, an shift your sessions accordingly. I'll tuck this little anecdote in my hat and see if I can't craft something someday. Very impressed.

@ Sektor -- It has nothing to do with the game system -- heck, <a href="http://arsludi.lamemage.com/index.php/96/grand-experiments-well-always-have-lorngard/" rel="nofollow">Lorngard</a> was good old AD&D.

But if you want to exercise your gaming muscles, I'd recommend indie games like Polaris and InSpectres. They force you to think differently about what you're doing at the table.

Man.

You are a frickin' genius.

This is by far the coolest and most complicated-to-come-up-with plot twist I've ever heard of in a game. Then again, I have a lot to learn...

I was just wondering -- having never tried anything else than D&D, Whitewolf, Shadowrun, Call of Cthulu or Paranoia -- which system exactly this is (I can't really make it out from your post), and if this system actually supports (or rather: doesn't hinder) such storytelling?

If so, I have to get me some.
