Have you formed your own run club yet? If not, then the gamers of Champaign-Urbana are way ahead of you. It looks like they've already got three run club sessions under their belts.

What? You do have your own run club? Then step up and represent. Until then, rock on C-U Run Club...

Here's an interesting tidbit in support of not charting the lineage of sub-continental royalty. Granted it's about writing, not gaming, but really as Dr. Bronner says "It's All One".

Just Say No To Worldbuilding

I agree completely, but the key of run club is that each person is running a single one-shot game, not multiple parallel campaigns. It's also not supposed to replace whatever main game is going on, just provide a change of pace and a different perspective for everyone.

Too many one-shots can definitely lead to player disinterest, but run club (in moderation) is a little different because players are often more curious about a different GM is going to do than what their own characters will be. Which is quite different than the normal state of affairs (i.e. players love their characters, not your game).

Again, it's supposed to be a learning experience and a change of pace, not the main game.

Sorry. I know this is an old post. Don't mean to be dresdging up ancient history. Just wanted to share my experience with this type of concept. I recently moved back to the area where I had gone to school and got back in contact with a group of friends I had known in High school who still played RPGs. They had a setup like this one, but after only a few months play it became obvious the system simply wasn't working. Because we switched DMs/Campaigns every week, it became impossible to make progress on a single game or even remember what had happened last time. I think this is a great idea if limited to one-shots like you specify here, but attempting to keep four or more simultanious campaigns working is pure suicide and ruins the game for everyone.
