Does It Add Beauty to The World?
I’ve been working on a long post picking apart the movie Inception for ages, analyzing what I think are truths the movie hides in plain sight.
But looking at the finished essay, I decided it didn’t add to the beauty of the world. So I’m scrapping it.

Yes, I think that’s exactly right. The process can be productive, for the next time.
I think that’s admirable. Shame about the wasted effort, but it’s wonderful that you could look past the sunk cost fallacy and decide that your article would not make the world a better place.
And maybe it wasn’t a waste, either. Though it isn’t shared, perhaps you got something out of the process, yourself. :)
I found Inception really frustrating for a number of reasons. It could have been so much better than it actually was!
Perhaps my biggest gripe is that nobody seems to notice or care that the protagonists are engaged in doing something *desperately immoral*, far worse than mere theft. It made it nearly impossible for me to empathize with them.
This is a misquote since I can’t find the original: Back, back, back into the stygian abyss. But there is no such thing as bad ideas, so go back to where I originally put you. – J. Frank Dobie
But we want to see it — beautiful or not!
