Quest: Escape the Haunted House!
They said this old house was haunted, but we didn’t listen. Now we have to escape. Our flashlights are flickering, there’s no coverage, the floorboards are creaking, and the wind is howling through the trees…
The Haunting is a spooky Halloween quest for Follow, ready for you to download and play right now:
We took it for a test run the other night and gave ourselves nightmares, but it should work for a whole range of spooky styles, from lighthearted Scooby Doo hijinks all the way to serious and scary ghost stories. You have been warned!!!

Thanks, Igor!
When I play Follow online, I just do it exactly the same as I would at the table: one player has a physical cup, adds the stones as each player gives their answers. There’s no secrecy, everyone knows what goes into the cup. Then they hold the cup in front of the camera so they can’t see in and draw so everyone can see the results. It’s really exactly the same as playing in person.
Hi Ben,
really enjoying your games.
Speaking about playing online, do you happen to know an utility
for the stone bag and extraction mechanism? Yeah, we can ignore
the secrecy issue and just let one player online keep the bag and
do the extraction…but it’s secondo best. An app, website or
discord bot would be wonderful.
Thanks,
Igor

Hi Davey! Yep, I remember you from Story Games Seattle. Ahh, good times!
Hey Ben,
Thanks for so much!
I only played games w you a time or two but the Seattle playtest group and the offshoot we later formed from that enriched my life so much.
Last several years I haven’t found my way to storygame sessions very often but it’s still there in my soul. I continue to make games a bit. My current favorite idea uses the mechanic from the card game “the mind” for “resolution”
I appreciate the generosity of your community building.
Thanks also for this SPOOKY quest.
Here’s my favorite way to play follow: use hand held pendulums and the ideomotor effect for “voting”. Just adds a fun twist. Might fit thematically with this quest. Somewhere I made a 19th century spiritualist quest. It was on paper though…. Not sure where it is now. Maybe I can divine the location w my pendulum?
Thanks again,
Davey
